Listening to the Heart of Genesis, A Contemplative Path. Friends Meeting of Washington is hosting a presentation by Rabbi Leila Gal Berner on Listening to the Heart of Genesis: A Contemplative Path on Sunday, September 18 at 12:30 p.m. Rabbi Berner offers a fresh experiential approach to personal contemplation based on a Christian method of reading Scripture—lectio divina. Rabbi Berner’s adaptation, kriat ha-kodesh (reading the sacred), is welcoming and accessible to readers of all backgrounds. Rabbi Berner explains rabbinic perspectives that have illuminated the stories in Genesis and suggests questions for contemplation and meditation, interspersed with chants and silence.
