AIM: County-wide Action

  • March 12, 2023
  • People’s Baptist Church, 31 Norwood Road

On Sunday, March 12, at 2:00 p.m.  at the People’s Baptist Church, 31 Norwood Road, (corner on New Hampshire Avenue) in Silver Spring, Action In Montgomery (AIM) will have its first Action to present our agenda to newly elected Montgomery County Executive and Council members. BFM is a founding member of this grassroots organization fighting for social justice at the local level for over 20 years. AIM is a coalition of 22 congregations and other organizations, and 14 Title One Schools and Neighborhood Associations.

We hope to fill the nave at the church with over 500 folks in a display of people power. The agenda includes supporting tenant rights and safe affordable housing; improving dental care accessibility; increasing number of full-day Pre-K for 4-year-olds seats from 400 to 1,000; prioritizing electrification and weatherization in low-income apartment buildings; and increasing resources for after-school Excel Beyond the Bell programs. Come and join your friends and neighbors and speak truth to power! For details, please see the website.
