  • May 01, 2023
  • 7:00 PM
  • via Zoom

Monday, May 1, 7:00 p.m.: We have the opportunity to hear, via Zoom, from Parfaite Ntahuba, an executive board member of the Friends World Committee for Consultation (FWCC - Africa Section) and a pastor in the Quaker community in Burundi, central Africa. She is the national Coordinator of the Friends Women’s Association (FWA), leading and advocating in response to gender-based violence (GBV), as well as advocating for women’s rights in Africa as a member of the All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC) general committee. Since Parfaite was hired to FWA’s clinic, it has moved forward on the clinical side, in a program for rape survivors, in trauma healing workshops for GBV survivors, in women’s economic empowerment, and in the extension of Ntaseka clinic to include a maternity ward and hospital. Since March 2019, Parfaite has coordinated the Quaker Peace Network (QPN) Burundi, a consortium of eight organizations. She led the QPN delegation in South Sudan and a project development and implementation to protect civilians before, during, and after the 2020 elections in Burundi. This is one of the projects Bethesda Friends Meeting supports. Click here for the Zoom link. Meeting ID: 829 2084 0029; Passcode: 844845; phone: 301-715-8592. For background, here are some helpful links: and
