Weed Warriors Community Service Project at Woodley Gardens Park

On Saturday, April 29, from 10:00 a.m. to noon, a family-friendly community service project sponsored by BFM Religious Education Committee. A wonderful opportunity to build connections across the generations.

  • We will gather at Woodley Gardens Park, 900 Nelson Street, in Rockville to care for the earth together by removing non-native, invasive plants from parkland, wooded, and open space areas.
  • The effort will be led by a supervisor of the Rockville Weed Warriors Program, who will also teach us how to properly identify and manage specific species of non-native, invasive plants using best management practices.
  • The last 7 of our 18 slots are now open to all of BFM.
  • Children should be at least 12 years old to participate; and children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian in order to use tools.  There will be plenty of work not involving tools for all ages over 12.
  • Prior to the workday, First Day School teachers will prepare our children with a lesson on how Quakers approach the environment and stewardship of the earth.
  • To register, please use our Contact Us form by April 24.
