The Joyful Case for Going Vegan

  • April 01, 2025
  • 7:00 PM (EDT)
  • Virtual

BYM’s Working Group on Right Relationship with Animals is sponsoring a presentation by Michael Halteman, author of Hungry Beautiful Animals from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m on Tuesday, April 1. Michael writes: "Experts agree that going vegan is a powerful ingredient of the cure for what ails us: climate change, diseases of affluence, future pandemics, and a morally indefensible food system. But nobody wants to take the medicine. Why? It’s partly because going vegan is perceived as a life-negating obligation obsessed with policing things one can’t do."

The Presenter offers a transformed vision of vegan living by pivoting from obligation to opportunity, focusing on what we gain: an abundant and healthful diet, innovative style, expanded consciousness of the lives of others, genuine interspecies kinship, and increased hope for social justice and environmental sustainability.
